Which blood tests are available?

We offer a wide range of blood tests and we can tailor a package to suit your needs. Blood tests include, but are not limited to:

  • Mens health: An understanding of our hormones and bodily functions is essential for maintaining a great standard of health. A blood-test provides a snapshot into our physiology and can reveal information about anything from hormones (e.g. testosterone) to cholesterol, kidney and liver function or even vitamin deficiencies. Blood tests are the most effective way of detecting underlying health conditions or monitoring existing ones.
  • Womens health: Understanding your hormones and bodily functions is essential for maintaining a great standard of health. A blood-test is able to test for anything from cholesterol to oestrogen, kidney and liver function or even vitamin deficiencies. Fluctuating oestrogen levels can be the cause of menstrual irregularities, mood swings, vaginal dryness, reduced bone strength and all manner of symptoms besides. For women, maintaining good reproductive health is just as important as taking care of any other part of the body. Blood tests are the most effective way of detecting underlying health conditions or monitoring existing ones.
  • Sports & fitness blood tests: Training for a marathon or triathlon? New to fitness? Or perhaps you’re simply interested in getting a better understanding of your physiology. Our blood tests can help you to track and monitor your progress by checking essential biomarkers. You can track the results over time to see how well your body is functioning and responding to the exercise regime, as well as flagging up any health issues which may need to be addressed.
  • Sexual health blood tests: Some sexually transmitted infections don’t cause symptoms but can develop into more serious problems if left untreated. Annual cases of Gonorrhea, Syphilis and Herpes have been increasing in England and Scotland since 2010; being tested is the best way to prevent the spread of these infections.
  • Fertility blood tests: Maintaining good reproductive health is just as important as taking care of any other part of your body. Our mood, health and behaviour are dictated by our hormones. Despite hormones being critical to their key functions, many go their whole lives without ever really looking into their own unique cycle and hormone balances. If you’re curious to understand more about your body, our blood tests can reveal more about your fertility, menopause, period problems or even monitor the effects of hormone replacement therapy.
  • General health: Regular blood testing is one of the most effective ways to prevent illness and maintain great general health. A blood-test provides a snapshot from which we can better understand our hormones, cholesterol, kidney and liver function or check for any vitamin deficiencies. Being tested at routine intervals will give you an insight into how your body changes over time, allowing you to make informed decisions based around your health.
  • Food sensitivity: Experiencing uncomfortable symptoms after eating certain foods? Food sensitivity tests identify IgG antibodies and immune responses to various foods, revealing type III allergies, also known as food intolerances. Unlike immediate type I IgE allergies, food sensitivities cause delayed, chronic issues like headaches, bloating, and fatigue. Food sensitivities arise when your immune system mistakenly reacts to certain foods, producing IgG antibodies. These trigger responses that can result in a range of symptoms, often making it difficult to identify the problematic foods. In addition to IgG food sensitivity testing, we offer tests for IgA antibodies specific to coeliac disease and gluten intolerance. Identifying IgA antibodies is crucial for diagnosing coeliac disease and managing symptoms like severe gastrointestinal distress and nutrient deficiencies. Understanding your body’s reaction to gluten allows you to adopt a gluten-free diet, significantly improving your quality of life.
  • Hormone blood tests: Hormones are biochemical substances produced by various glands in the body, forming a part of the endocrine system. They are secreted directly into the bloodstream and travel to specific organs or tissues where they exert their effects. Hormones act as chemical messengers and play a crucial role in regulating a great many physiological processes in the body. Their functions include growth and development, metabolism, reproduction, mood and cognitive functions, regulation of body functions, and response to stress and injury, Imbalances in hormone levels can lead to various health problems, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth disorders, reproductive issues, and mood disorders. Hormones are absolutely integral to the overall functioning of the human body and your wellbeing.
  • Allergy blood tests: Testing for allergies helps identify specific allergens that trigger your reactions. Knowing what you’re allergic to allows you to avoid those triggers and manage your symptoms better. It also prepares you to handle severe reactions, like anaphylaxis, effectively. In allergy testing, the primary type of antibody looked for is Immunoglobulin E (IgE). IgE is a class of antibodies produced by the immune system in response to exposure to an allergen. When someone is allergic to a substance, their immune system mistakenly identifies this harmless substance as a threat and produces IgE antibodies specific to that allergen.
